Synopsis:
Episode 9 of The Atherton Project begins in Val Di Sol for the last round of the World Cup. It’s been a tough season, and the championship is not at the front of the team’s mind, more just finishing with a good result on the day - especially on such a punishing track as this one.

We also catch up with Dan, who’s preparing for an enduro event in Sweden. It’s a different discipline, a new challenge, and Dan gets off to a promising start, something which he hopes to build on in the 2012 season.

Third place pay out may not be fat but it pays out well enough--especially when combined with Rachel s winnings too. Dinner and drinks on Gee-Man for the Atherton Racing team tonight.

Now in its third series, Red Bull’s reality TV series ‘The Atherton Project’ is a fly-on-the-wall show tracking the exploits of the most famous family in mountain bike history. Follow British riders Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton as they compete in events around the world in the 2011 season.

Series 3 of The Atherton Project can be found on Red Bull TV. Check out The Atherton Project website for more information.

Definitely, and such good results on top of that, first in Quali and 3rd in the first run down, hopefully this will be a good thing for him, considering all the bad luck he had in the last year. He is for sure one of the best All-around riders out there, it's ridiculous the ability he has to transfer from one aspect of the sport to another, and perform so well, PROPS!

Although Dan is a massive pinner himself, it think it must be incredibly hard for him to live in the shadow of Gee and Rachel. Gee and Rachel win heaps of races and Dan doesn't. He went to 4X and BMX for a while to get out of the shadow and create his own glory and that didn't work. Now he has made the move to enduro and that seemed to be a good move for him. Especially if Gee and Rachel never give it a go and beat him. I feel sorry for him but his style and determination are inpirational and fun to watch.

Good move for Dan, I don't think he has anything to worry about taking up Enduro. He smoked Gee in Irelands answer to the Mega Avalanche here a few weeks back (Red Bull Fox Hunt, part of the Epic Blast) coming 3rd with Gee back in 6th. Hope he destroys it next year!

Of course they did, but it was not their main focus. And there was not as much promo (e.g. Atherton Project) But I get your point

Gee likes to getting flat tires during race. Is he not running tubless? Or maybe pump them up a bit more.

Only rumour right now though... even if the sources are reliable.
Strange move though imo, for Commencal to let them go. It could be big negative for them in the UK, especially with the new designs coming out for 2012.

I've heard a few things from bike shops about Commencal being in a bit of financial trouble due to excessive spending on marketing/ race teams etc. The shops were told that by industry reps. It could just be rumour, but it is supported by them parting company with the Athertons, if it's true.
